‘The Pool’ Article: North West Has a Personal Trainer

North West has a more documented, more glamorous, more bizarre life than most other toddlers. For example, this week it was revealed that North’s downtime is significantly more regimented than the average two-year-old’s because as well as being a tap dance and ballet aficionado, she has a personal trainer.

As a toddler, she obviously doesn’t have a whole lot of autonomy when it comes to her hobbies and routines, and so her personal training sessions are often tacked on to her mother’s workouts; apparently, Kim Kardashian “has one of her guys work out with North at the end of her session, once or twice a week”, a “source” tells Radar.

“They teach her fun stuff like stretches and other basic aerobics, nothing strenuous.” Is stretching fun? What does basic aerobics mean for a two-year-old? Is a squishy toddler even capable of strenuous activity? Do babies sweat, actually, now that I come to think of it? So many questions…

Fitness & children – Setting them on the right path.

“Talented kids are everywhere. We just have to develop the means to identify them and then expose them to well-planned and methodical training.” Bompa .1985.

How do I choose the right exercise for my child?

The modern life and hectic lifestyle of many families nowadays is increasingly made up of driving, TV, video games, mobile phones, laptops and tablet computers , all of which add to the growing rate of sedentary lifestyles and health issues attached to that. Then there is the increasing consumption of convenience food which, more often than not, lacks the array of nutrients we require.

Busy parents are finding less and less time for recreation and making the right activity choices for their children.

And if they are not active themselves, it becomes even harder to encourage and inspire their offspring to adopt healthy, active habits. When discussing children’s health these days , people frequently mention words like stress, obesity, heart disease. The reason is that fitness is far from a  priority in the everyday lives of many children.

How to decide which exercise and activity, is right for your child and how to fit it into your everyday schedules…

  1. The most important thing to remember is – your child is an individual and unique, so what works for other children might not  necessarily engage your child.
  2. Genetics and your personal example does matter!

Camexpo Interview: Yelena Paul, Personal Trainer & Nutritional Advisor

A8418886Full name: Yelena Paul
Job title: Founder of Mango Fitness / Personal Trainer & Nutritional Adviser
Town: Berkshire

Tell us a bit about your background and what led you into complementary medicine?

I have a masters degree in PE and a diploma in Physical Rehabilitation Exercises from Russian State University of Physical Education, Sport, Youth & Tourism, and have been on various certification programmes in the UK. Since I was 7-8 years old, I’ve been interested in competitive athletics. My father is a competitive athlete in modern pentathlons, so I used to watch him compete and prepare for competitions, hence why I have developed my deep curiosity for the industry. I could see how nutrition and the right supplements helped my father (and later, myself) to achieve a higher potential.

What do you love most about your work?

I love the constant learning and challenges in my career.
